Well Baby Appointments

Tuesday we had well baby appointments for both kiddos. One word to describe the experience...Interesting. Thankfully Brent was able to join me for the appointment to have an extra hand. If he wasn't there I'm sure I'd be describing the experience as stressful and challenging. Of course I managed to have the appointments scheduled on the same day we had a winter storm come through New Mexico so that just added to chaos.

On to the important stuff. Here is where the kids stand:

Keely 18 Months
23 lbs 13.5 oz
31 3/4 inch.
44.5 cm head circumference

Brayden 2 Months
13 lbs 13.5 oz
23 3/4 inch
41.5 cm head circumference
We have a BIG boy! I was pretty sure he would be about 14 lbs when we went to his check up and sure enough he's pretty close. This week we also hit a new milestone when Brayden rolled over from tummy to back the night before the appointment. Just like Keely did I put him on his belly and walked away for a minute or two. When I returned he was on his back and I thought "I didn't leave you like that". So I put him on his tummy again and immediately he rolled over again! Very exciting. He's laughing and smiling all the time and sure knows the voices of Mom, Dad, and Sister.

Keely of course was a great patient again. She is doing great with her growth and development. She even earned a sticker. She had a great time exploring the doctor's office waiting her turn to be checked out.
Having appointments for both kids back to back was a little chaotic. We had Brayden tired since it was nap time, so he'd start crying. Then Keely would try to talk over his crying and in the meantime the Doc is trying to talk to Brent and I all in a small space. But we made it through and won't have another appointment for Keely until 2 years and Brayden's next appointment will be at 4 Months. Whew!

On a side note, I had several people ask me how to leave comments from 'anonymous' name. Apparently I had not enabled that setting so I went ahead and changed the settings to allow other friends and family comment on our page :)

Week 28

Here we are, week 28 and in the 3rd trimester! I'm measuring 27cm and everything is still going really well. I had my check-up this morning with Felicia (my Midwife). Results from my glucose test were great, no chance of getting gestational diabetes and no anemia for this lady, yeah! We brought Keely with us to the appointment again today and Brent was able to come too. So here is a look at our checkup today with Keely listening to her Brother. She was a lot more mellow from our last appointment, but still so much fun for Brent and I to see her trying to figure what was going on.

20 lbs and 6 Needles!

Today Keely had her 12 month well baby appointment. Here are the stats:

Weight: 20 lbs 1 oz
Height: 29.33 in
Head Circumference: 43.4 cm

She is doing great and climbing the chart steadily from birth. She's hitting all milestones that she should and was a great patient for the doctor. We were given the OK on weaning away from formula and also the OK to try peanut butter. Bring on PB & J's! Unfortunately with the check up comes the 12 month shots-5 to be exact and 1 blood lab draw, which equals 6 needles. Poor, poor Keely was not a happy camper. All things considered she did great. Her appointment was right in the middle of nap time and instead of falling asleep in the car like Mom wanted her to before the appointment, she stayed up the entire car trip (which never happens that close to nap time). So we had the Dr. appointment, visit to get shots, then lab to get blood drawn which led to leaving at Noon and no morning nap. Thankfully we were able to go my Mom's and had a much better afternoon.

On another note, I had my Dr. appointment yesterday. I'm currently 24 weeks and 4 days. My weight gain is right on track and everything still looks great. We listened to the heartbeat which continues to sound strong. Keely was with me for the first time at the appointment and had a blast listening to her brother's heartbeat. She was laughing and clapping and really entertaining Ms. Felicia (my midwife). So things are continuing to progress beautifully for everyone in the Duncan home!
