Mama's Workin!

So before I begin, I need to give some background to what has been happening for the last 6 months.

Last summer I started the daunting task of job searching. As we all know, these days it is not as easy as it once was. I struggled with coming to terms that I would not be staying at home with the kids everyday. Along with struggling with what I wanted to do when I returned to work. For a while now I've really struggled with the question "what do I want to do?!?!?" Even while I was in school being in the classroom never felt 100% right, but where did that leave me? So I began applying at USA Jobs. Southwest Airlines and other avenues thinking I wanted an office type setting but again doing what??? I finally heard on the radio one day that AAA was hiring. I thought, "this could be the opportunity I was looking for." I have been a AAA member for several years and loved the membership, so I applied. Well, I quickly learned the position was working as an insurance agent. Not exactly what I thought I was getting into, but I NEEDED a job. So I was offered a position and I took it. This was last September. I know most of you knew I was there, but not seeing myself as an insurance agent it wasn't something I wanted to shout from the rooftops. Just a transition position while I continued some soul searching to what my future would hold.

Now, when Brent and I were in Italy I worked on our installation as the Academic Advisor. And I LOVED the position. When we came back to NM I didn't think that working as an Advisor was an option for me. So I didn't really look into it. Then in August I started taking a close look at the UNM and CNM website for positions and quickly learned that I was qualified. So I started to pursue applying for every advisement position posted(since last August).

Then last month, I finally received a phone call for an interview...I couldn't believe it. I was so nervous and excited knowing how much I've struggled with looking into the future at a career and would this be the opportunity.

Well it turns out it was! As of two weeks ago I am the new Academic Advisor for the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department at UNM! And I couldn't be happier. It is amazing the different feeling that I carry going to work everyday. That I finally feel that I am doing what I should be doing and I can see a future in my career. A very good feeling.

With all that said I have to say thank you for all the support that I have been given during this struggle. Especially to Brent, for his patience, support, and for believing in me. I also have to say thank you to my family, and my girls for being there with an open ear and a shoulder to cry on during my struggle. The last 6 months was a true challenge and without all the support that I had I'm not sure that I would have found the light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you everyone!

So for now, I'm back in Lobo Nation and can't wait to see where the start of my career takes me!

Spring is in the Air

As we say good-bye to the winter months of staying indoors while we cozy on the couch...

we say "hello" to spring! This past weekend was SO nice and we took advantage of every moment of it. Starting with getting the garden ready...
and of course much needed swinging!
Even Brayden loves enjoys hanging out on the swing. Check out the big boy on the big kid swing!

First Crush

My Brayden boy has fallen for an older girl, a four year old to be exact. Arabella goes to daycare with Keely and Brayden and apparently he goes around all day calling out "Bella, Bella!" He just adores her and she really is the cutest thing! See below just how much she brightens his day!
