"Step" it up...

It's official, Keely has taken her first steps. Two nights ago she took a 1/2 step to Daddy in the kitchen giving us a sneak peak to what the next few days would hold. She's become more brave cruising from one piece of furniture to another which let us know it was any day now that she would take that step as if it were nothing. Well, tonight was the night. Of course this was the night that Mommy had "girls night out" so I missed it. But thankfully, Daddy got to witness a first and was so proud of his little girl.  He called me as soon as she did it letting me know that it was not only one step she took 4! Brent tried to capture the moment on camera but once he brought that out she was so interested in the camera she decided she was done walking for the night. Hard to believe she's 11 months now and now a walking little girl. My how the past year has flown by...sigh.

Moth Drawn to the Flame...

A little recap to how this played out....
"Keely, don't even think about it." Heard, Acknowledged, and Understood Mom, however...
"Keely, Mommy said no." But it just looks so interesting Mom.
"KEELY MARIE DUNCAN!" Okay, Okay Mom I'll put it back.

Oh how this girl keeps me on my toes!

Many Talents of Keely

Since Brent has school on Tuesday and Wednesday nights Keely and I have a little "girl time" where I don't stress so much about dinner (usually leftovers) and we get to have more play time. Today it seemed like this little girl was having a blast trying on different
careers and talents...
Little Drummer Girl (she's ready to be in Daddy's band. PS. Look at her stand!)
Giving her reflection a high five in the kitchen window or getting ready for synchronized swimming.
Trying on her fencing mask.
Not sure what the future holds for this talented little lady but I'm sure whatever she chooses she'll make Mom and Dad proud.

Chatter Box

Lately Keely has become quite the little chatter box. Everything is either Da-da or Ma-ma. She repeats these over and over and even has fun calling Mommy "Da-da" and Daddy "Ma-ma". It's hilarious listening to her talk in her crib when she wakes up. This morning she decided to show us her strength by having her mobile disassembled lying on the floor when I went in to get her. Wishing desperately I had the camera close by to capture the moment I had to feed the little destructor and get going on our now busy mornings.

As for the working and the childcare situation, things are going good...now. In the beginning she struggled a little with the changes and adjustments which is to be expected. But now she's back to her fun loving self having a blast with all the kids and the little dogs.  Each day Ms. Andrea has a "little report card" that tells Brent and I how her day was and what she did. This way we know what she did that day and how she's doing. It's still hard leaving in the morning but at least I know she's in a great environment and is getting wonderful care.  That at least gives me peace of mind.

My Buddy and Me!

Today we went over to my Mom and Dad's for lunch. When we arrived Keely was VERY excited to see her buddy at her Mee-Maw's house. Boots does a great job entertaining Keely and is so good with her. She has such a blast when she sees him. Today we were able to catch some of her excitement on video.

Just Go For It!

So I have finally got to the point of realizing we need to just go for it. Lately eating dinner has become more frustrating. Keely is becoming more independent and wants to feed herself and I realized we need to let her try eating what we are eating. So we decided to just do it and boy did we ever. Here Keely is eating her first Spaghetti (please note the dash of spaghetti eye shadow she is wearing)! I'm not sure she enjoyed it though, what do you think?

This is for the Birds...

Mom's got the flu and let me just say it's NO fun. I had my check up today (15weeks and 5 days) and addressed my concern to my midwife about not keeping anything down since 1:00 this morning. I had a fever and she told me to go home. Thankfully Brent came home to help me out so I could rest and try to keep the fluids down. Let's hope it's just a 24 hour deal...
